Paul Clarence Oglesby – Botanical Fossils

Paul Clarence Oglesby is a sculptor based in Austin,Texas. His work is a modular sculpture system created from hand cast concrete pieces inspired by plants from arid regions of the world. It is a modular system that is mobile and interchangeable. Each piece is cast into collected or recycled objects from everyday life and transformed into a segmented sculpture.  The forms are combined to create pods, segmented stem like stacked vertical and horizontal structures and bulbs. The cast forms vary from one half inch to 500 pounds. This sculptural system embodies minimal and geometric shapes that are universally understood and transforming industrial materials in something of beauty and grace. The work resembles botanical fossils from an industrial era.
